Erica Brecher is a general assignment reporter.
She joined the WETM 18 News team in June, 2012.
Erica graduated from PennState University with a B.A. in broadcast journalism and a minor in political science. Erica placed sixth in the country in the Hearst Journalism Awards Program for radio news reporting, and first place in the Pennsylvania AP Broadcasters Association awards for Enterprise/Individual Reporting. She is a member of Kappa Tau Alpha, the national honor society for academic excellence in journalism.
In college, Erica anchored and reported for the Centre County Report, Penn State’s weekly news program, which airs on public television across Pennsylvania. For two and a half years, she also wrote for The Daily Collegian, Penn State’s student newspaper.
Previously, Erica interned for AccuWeather.com in State College, P.A.; WTOP Radio in Washington, D.C.; WPSU-FM in State College, P.A.; and Coyne PR in Parsippany, N.J.
Outside of reporting, Erica is a huge fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions, coffee, flip flops, writing, exercising, sports, music and her kitten Chloe.
Homegrown in Randolph, New Jersey, Erica grew up playing the violin, playing softball and soccer, spending summers in Long Beach Island, and working with young kids. She loves her dad and brother.
