Sam Smink is the weekend anchor/producer for WETM 18 News. She also doubles as a general assignment reporter during the week.
Sam joined the team in March 2011, and couldn’t be happier living in the Twin Tiers. Originally from Northeast Philadelphia, Sam likes the feeling of living in a small, tight-knit community.
Sam is proud to call herself a Nittany Lion, having graduated magna cum laude from Penn State University in May 2010. While at Penn State, Sam earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism, and completed minors in both Theatre and International Relations.
Sam also considers herself lucky enough to have spent a semester in London, where she studied Theatre.
Sam worked hard while in college, working as a reporter, anchor and web producer for The Centre County Report, Penn State’s student run news program, broadcast in over 28 counties. She then spent her summers working part-time for Radio Disney Philadelphia and interning at CBS 3 Philadelphia. She’s brought that determination to the Twin Tiers.
Sam loves her fitness, so you can catch her at the gym on the treadmill or most likely taking Zumba classes, as dancing is her second love. You can also catch Sam checking out any/all sporting events, having grown up on Phillies baseball.
Sam loves to talk and listen, so feel free to share your stories with her. Or if you just want to say hello, don’t hesitate to email. You can reach her at ssmink@wetmtv.com
