Shannon Lins is a general assignment reporter for WETM-18 News. He joined the team in March 2012.
He comes to the Twin Tiers from Wisconsin, where he was born and raised. He worked there as a producer and director of live events for Fox Sports Wisconsin. Growing up, he first lived in a town of just 1500 people and loves being part of close communities such as those in the Twin Tiers.
Shannon attended Syracuse University, where he graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Communications. He minored in Political Science. While at Syracuse, Shannon anchored, reported and produced for CitrusTV, the nation’s oldest and largest student-run station. He covered local news stories and sporting events, taking him to small towns as well as huge stadiums. His work was broadcast on television around Central New York. Shannon also covered news stories for uwire.com and interned for Fox Sports’ Major League Baseball coverage.
Shannon is a Madison, Wisconsin native and proud to be a Cheesehead. When he’s not reporting the news, you can find him rooting on his Wisconsin teams, as well as the Syracuse Orange.
Shannon played percussion for much of his life and loves all different kinds of music. He wishes he exercised more often, but prefers instead to look for great local foods. It is a constant struggle.
Shannon is very happy to be a part of the Twin Tiers community. If you have any tips, story ideas or restaurant recommendations, he welcomes all e-mails at slins@wetmtv.com
