Sofia Ojeda is just living the American Dream. Born in Lima, Peru, Sofia later moved to the U.S. with her family when she was 2 years old.
Sofia grew up in South Jersey spending all her summers on the beach and is truly a “Jersey Girl” She later went to The College of New Jersey where she majored in Communications. She also worked on the campus radio and TV stations covering news and sports.
Sofia played four years of Division 3 Varsity Basketball. She was named Team Captain and Hardest Worker in 2004. While in college Sofia spent her summers interning at WABC in New York City; first with Sports: interviewing top athletes, Derek Jeter, Jason Giambi and Tiki Barber and later with news.
Sofia’s first job out of college was back in the Big Apple as a News Desk Assistant at WABC. She later worked as a Freelance Reporter with News 12 in the Bronx. After the Bronx, she landed her first gig in the Southern Tier at sister station WIVT NewsChannel 34 in Binghamton.
Sofia is happy to get back into local news coverage bringing you the very latest information that impacts your lives. Sofia still enjoys playing pickup basketball, traveling, and spending times with friends and fam.
