ELMIRA, N.Y. - January 19, 2013 - The Elmira Jackals
announced today that they have suspended Artem Demkov who has left the team to
sign a professional contract with a team in the German Elite League.
"It is unfortunate to lose a player of Artem's caliber. He chose to
sign a more lucrative contract to play in Germany, and we wish him the best in
the future. The Jackals will move forward without him. We will not let this
change deter us from putting a competitive team on the ice with the ultimate
goal of winning a Kelly Cup championship," said Jackals general manager Matt
Hufnagel.
The forward scored his 22nd and 23rd goals of the season in last night's loss to Trenton. Demkov was the team's leading goal scorer.
