I fully applaud Hoffman Wolff for what he's done this offseason.  Almost every sporting event I show up for, he's there, promoting the heck out of the Elmira Pioneers.  With every fiber of my being, I hope fans have taken notice... but not for the reason you might think.

Long-term, the NYCBL is not the answer.  Sorry, folks, but college summer leagues are great... and yes, it's nice to see a couple former players drafted every summer... but fans want to see quality, and that means pro baseball.

Dunn Field has an incredible tradition.  It also has a history of not-so-creative people running the show.  A lack of promo nights, creative between-inning stuff, and poor on-field talent crippled the place.

Put a guy like Hoffman Wolff in charge of an actual minor-league team in Elmira, & I guarantee fans would come out in droves.

The only question is... and yes, it's the biggest one of all... who would financially back such a program.  It's all a nice thought, but we need someone with deep pockets to step up.  So pass this along to every millionaire you know (especially if they like baseball), because long-term, this city would thank you.
