Two-a-day practices are as much a part of high school football as the football itself. However, the National Athletic Trainers Association is looking to tweak the tried and true formula.
The NATA proposes that no high school team undergo a double session on back-to-back days. Additionally, they say a single practice should be limited to three hours. Doubles should not exceed five.
Local coaches, though, say they always look out for their players to make sure they don't get dehydrated or overheated. Especially in New York, there are already restrictions in place to limit practice time, which would only compound this situation.
