Random thoughts on the eve of the Classic...

At least having so many big names in the Corning Classic this week should quasi distract fans from the fact that they probably will never see these golfers again.  I'm already enjoying how good this field is going to be... and privately laughing that Lorena Ochoa still apparently thinks she's too good for this tournament.  92 of the top 100 players in the world... hard to call this a pushover tourney.

I really think Paula Creamer wins this week.  I love the story of how her grandpa gets to see her play here every year... she has motivation to win.

I know I wasn't even a glimmer in WETM's eye when it happened, but the more I see Rosie Jones's epic 50-foot putt from a dozen years ago to win the Classic, the more I think it's truly the defining shot in this tournament's history.  Gives you goosebumps.  More recently, I'd stick with Jimin Kang's hole-in-one on 15 the year she won.  Now THAT was drama... I still remember the roar of the crowd.

And I think that's really what this week is going to be all about.  Everyone, pulling out THEIR favorite Classic memories... and hopefully creating a few new ones along the way.

By the way, I'm really pumped that Laura Diaz is writing a diary for our website this year.  She's been a great interview every year... one of my favorites.  Kind of sad that Kelli Kuehne withdrew, though... she's up their on my list of favorite interviews, too.

I wonder if Erica Blasberg can put together four rounds this year.  She had three GREAT rounds last year, before a meltdown on day four.  Good storyline to keep an eye on.

Here's to great weather, great golf, and an exciting next four days!
