Fruit Mixture Ingredients

6 2/3 cups(about 5 large apples) peeled/thinly sliced all- purpose apples
2 cups fresh blue berries
2 cups fresh blackberries
2 cups fresh sliced strawberries
1 cup course chopped pecans
3 tbsp. lemon juice
1/3 cup water
1 tbsp. ground cinnamon
¼ tsp. ground nutmeg
½ tsp. ground ginger
3tbsp. flour
2/3 cup sugar in the raw

Topping Ingredients

1 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
2/3 cup quick cooking oats
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
2/3 cup melted butter or alternative
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
¼ tsp. ground nutmeg
½ tsp. ground ginger

Basic Fruit Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Place the sliced apples in a large bowl and coat well with the lemon juice and water. Next, add the berries and nuts. Now sprinkle the flour and spices over the surface of the moist apples. Using your hands, carefully fold the ingredients together until completely mixed and well coated with the liquid, flour, and spices. Pour the fruit mixture into a greased 9 x 13 baking dish and set aside while you work on the topping.

Topping Preparation

Using two forks, mix all of the topping ingredients until small crumbs form (add a little more flour if too moist). Sprinkle over the fruit. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and15 minutes. Let the crisp cool and serve with vanilla ice cream or whip cream. Garnish with additional berries and fresh mint.
