Swimming is a great activity for all ages. Getting involved in a swimming class or water aerobics class is a wonderful way to change up your workouts or relieve injuries from overtraining.
This activity is very low impact and offers great health benefits for individuals that are physically limited or challenged. Classes that are offered can be quite low intensity and work up to high intensity. Many components utilized in the gym can be tranfered to water.
Resistance challenges, balance and coordination as well as the aerobic components can all be used in the pool. The low impact of water allows workouts to be performed without undue stress on joints and offers a therapeutic response to the entire body.
Check locally with your YWCA or even the Red Cross to see if classes are being offered in your area. Local hotels and motels may be able to offer you use of their pools often for a small fee. Get your swimmies out and flip into action!!!
