Knowing the kinds of cancer men can get and learning the early warning signs can save their lives. Lung cancer is the number one cause of cancer death for men in the United States. Smoking is the primary cause of lung cancer. Colon and rectal cancer is most common in men older than 40. Watch for changes in your normal bowel pattern, constipation, diarrhea, or blood in your stool. Prostate cancer usually occurs in men over 60, but men should beging getting annual prostate exams after age 50, sooner if they have a family history. Cancer of the testicles occurs most commonly in men between 15 and 35. Check each month for a hard, painless, pea-size lump, a larger than normal testicle, a dull ache in the groin, or fluid in the scrotum. A regular screening exam with your healthcare professional can save your life. For more information about cancer in men, contact your physician.
