Uterine cancer, or endometrial cancer as it's also called, is the most common type of cancer found in a woman's reproductive organs. Traditional methods of treating this disease include one or more of the following: surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and hormone therapy. Physicians believe that a combination of treatments provides a greater chance of prolonged survival and a possible cure. Some of the more common surgical procedures used are the removal of the uterus, lymph nodes, one or both ovaries, and the fallopian tubes. The determination of which surgery to perform is based on the stage of the cancer as well as the patient's age and physical condition. For more information about current treatment methods, contact a cancer specialist in your area.
