In addition to serving different functions, crowns and bridges also vary in cost. Crowns are moderately priced because the installation of a crown is relatively simple and it only affects one tooth. Bridges, however, tend to be much more expensive. Frequently, bridges can be twice as expensive as a crown. Bridges cost more because they replace a large number of teeth and require a high level of skill from the dentist to be done correctly. Bridges are not only functional, but are also aesthetically important. Remember that various dentists charge various amounts, so it's a good idea to do some comparison shopping before having any extensive dental work done. Whether you have dental insurance can also sometimes affect the cost. Talk with your dental insurance plan to determine what amount will be covered. In many cases, dentists may also make payment arrangements for uninsured patients. The cost of going without dental care far outweighs the cost of treatment. For more information about the cost of crowns and bridges, consult a dentist in your area.
