Many organizations promote the interests of older adults. One of the best known and largest of the organizations is the American Association of Retired Persons, or the A-A-R-P. The A-A-R-P is an organization to aid persons age 50 and over. For a membership fee of eight dollars a year, members receive information on medical insurance, supplemental Medicare, investments, and health and legal information. A-A-R-P lobbies in Congress for laws concerning older Americans and publishes a monthly magazine as well as informational brochures for its members. Discount pharmacy services and organized travel service are also available to members. A-A-R-P has local and regional groups nationwide. For information regarding the American Association of Retired Persons, look in the telephone directory for your local office, or write to or call: American Association of Retired Persons 1909 K Street, Northwest Washington, D.C. 20049 (202) 972-4700
