Alcoholism often victimizes more than just the abuser. Family members of alcoholics are sometimes subjected to unnecessary mental and physical abuse. Although recovery from alcoholism is a gradual process, family members can promote recovery by setting boundaries, and acknowledging unacceptable behaviors.
