Sometimes patients have with round faces and feel they look fat. By removal of the buccal (BUCK-el) fat pads through a one-centimeter incision in the mouth, the facial contours can be made more angular. This, combined with liposuction of the face, can be helpful for facial enhancement surgery. Buccal fat removal and cheek fat removal can be performed with during facelift surgery or facial contouring surgery including facial liposuction; however, the surgery can also be performed in an isolated fashion to help reduce the roundness of the face. For more information about cheek reduction, contact a cosmetic or plastic surgeon.
