Many women are affected by cellulite—a skin condition caused by fluid retention, enlargement of fat cells, or loss of elasticity of the skin. Too much cellulite can result in a 'clumpy' appearance. While a change of diet and a regular exercise program will result in weight loss and muscle tone, some cellulite can remain unaffected. These women can consider a treatment called endermologie (in-der-MAWL-uh-gee), an FDA-approved treatment that uses a special tool that glides over the affected areas and delivers a relaxing gentle suction and roller massage to stimulate microcirculation in the skin. This encourages cells to wake up and function more efficiently. Endermologie requires an ongoing treatment program administered by a trained aesthetic technician. Sometimes the treatment is used in conjunction with liposuction. For more information about endermologie for better skin, contact a cosmetic or plastic surgeon.
