Hospital birthing rooms have become increasingly popular as an option for delivery. Birthing rooms provide an attractive alternative to sterile and brightly-lit delivery rooms. They have a comfortable and home-like atmosphere with attractive furnishings and decorations. The room may offer relaxing touches like dim lights, soft music, or aromatherapy scents. Birthing rooms can help reduce the stress of delivery and can make it a more pleasant and rewarding experience for the women and their families. Many birthing rooms feature infant warmers or provide a warm bath for the baby. Resuscitation equipment and 'birthing beds' make it possible for both labor and delivery to take place there. Women giving birth in a hospital birthing room can be reassured that all the necessary equipment and personnel are within easy reach should an emergency arise. In general, it's a good idea for you and your husband or coach to tour the labor floor and birthing rooms before your due date arrives. For more information, contact a health care provider.
