As a result the center is struggling despite strong ticket sales. Weidemann said, "We've had operating surpluses for 13, 14, 15 consecutive years but now we're faced with interest and principal payments that come to $36-thousand per month."
Weidemann says the center can not stay in the black for long with those kind of payments. He says operations and staff were cutback over the summer. Bills are being paid and no events canceled but Clemens Center supporters are being asked if they can dig a bit deeper to help pay off the restoration project debt.
