A candidate that dropped out of the Chemung Town Clerk's race is now the apparent winner. Mary Ellen Stermer is the unofficial winner.
Republican Mary Ellen Stermer defeated incumbent Democrat Debra McKeown by a two to one margin.
The Chemung county board of elections is in the process of counting absentee ballots and waiting on the deadline for military ballots to be counted.
On Tuesday, when contacted by phone, Stermer says that she will not have a comment until all the votes are counted.
