ELMIRA, N.Y. - Jackals Head Coach Pat Bingham says Chemung County's upcoming foreclosure on First Arena has been a "major distraction" for his team.
The Jackals have lost every game since the foreclosure plans became public knowledge.
Bingham says he believes the arena's financial status played a role in the departures of both Kevin Harvey and Max Gratchev last week.
Jackals owner Mostafa Afr owes Chemung County more than $130,000 in taxes and fees from the last three years. Foreclosure papers are expected to be signed within the next two days.
First Arena General Manager Robbie Nichols says the team is not in jeopardy, despite the issues.
On a related note, Federal League officials were at First Arena today to meet with Nichols. Neither side commented on what those discussions were about.
The Federal Hockey League is a lower-level minor league that has supplied Elmira with players this season when the team was short-handed.
