BIG FLATS - The lack of marked lanes on one well traveled roadway in Chemung County is causing headaches for some drivers.
Drivers could be seen waiting in two lanes at one time on County Route 64. Others had problems figuring out where the turning lanes are.
Chemung county officials say striping was suppose to begin this past weekend. But due to the contractor's schedule, that didn't happen.
Drivers say they shouldn't delay anymore because it's a big safety.
“It was a little crazy driving here. People were swerving all around so I think they need to take care of it as soon as possible with all the shopping going on,” says Heather Stukey.
“It's pretty dangerous, especially if it starts raining or snowing,” says Kendra Ritlinger.
County officials say the long yellow and white lines will be striped starting Tuesday. They say other signage will be completed by the end of the week.
Officials also say no major accidents have occurred due to lack of striping or signage.
