ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM-TV)- It's cold outside, so we're bringing it indoors this week to go for a ride, literally.
At New York Sport and Fitness, a variety of spinning classes are offered; endurance, interval, and strength.
If you like to hit the heavy weights, you may be turned off to spin class but there are plenty of reasons why you should think about taking one.
"Having muscular strength is a good thing but if you don't have the muscular endurance to go with it, you're losing out on the other part that's going to make you strong," personal trainer Sara Rhode said.
It's also a low impact exercise, burns a ton of calories, and can be tailored to your skill level.
WETM's Chris Hush tested out an endurance spin class at NYSF for himself for "Move It Monday" (Check out the video attached to this article!).
Can't make a class?
That's what your smartphone is for!
Check out and download "Global Cycle Coach."
WETM's Chief Meteorologist Joe Pasquarelli is very familiar with the APP himself!
"If you don't have that scheduled where you get to class on time, you can show up when you want. It's just as intense as someone here in class. You've got a virtual instructor, telling you to increase the resistance, decrease it, making sure you do heart rate checks," Pasquarelli said.
You can even pick an instructor personalized for you!
Whether virtual or the real thing, spinning is a great core and leg workout for any skill level.
