Alfred - Several students lost all of their possessions in an early morning fire near Alfred University.

Eleven Alfred University students lost everything in a fire on that broke out on Main Street, near campus.

The students themselves were not injured.

The huge fire destroyed two businesses and several second floor apartments at the corner of West University and North Main Street.

It took firefighters several hours to put out the blaze.

Alfred Police Chief Tim O’Grandy says, "People did jump off the second story roof and were assisted from officers"

Amy Cohem of Alfred University had a good friend in one of those apartments and says, "She lost everything, everything is gone.  What can a kid think about in this situation?  You never dream that this was going to happen to you."

The students were offered counseling, clothing, and food at the campus center.
