BINGHAMTON, NEW YORK - Horseheads made sure that this trip to Binghamton, didn't end like their last one.
After falling to Oneonta in overtime of the STAC championship, the Blue Raiders responded with a trip to the Section IV Class AA championship game. This time, Horseheads met Union-Endicott, and it was once again, a close game. For the first quarter, at least.
The game was tied at 15 after one. That's when the Blue Raiders went on a string of runs, including a 29 - 6 streak in the second, which was followed up by 16 - 2 run in the third.
Multiple Blue Raiders scored in double figures, including Marlea Nolan who had 18, junior Ellie Leszyk with 17, and Amanda Schiefen capped her night with 14 points.
In the end, Horseheads took home their first Section 4 Class AA title, since 2009, with a 79 - 34 win, over the Tigers.
