ELMIRA - A car fire on I-86 in Elmira early Friday morning closed down traffic in the westbound lane for about one hour.
Elmira fire officials say three people were in the car and all got out safely.
Officials say around 1:00 in the morning, the driver said he swerved to miss hitting a deer and hit the guardrail.
Then he kept going.
Fire officials say the engine then caught fire.
No names were given but officials say one person is from Corning.
The scene was cleared by 2:00 a.m.Friday morning.
The Chemung County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
