HORSEHEADS, N.Y. – Football players dominated National Signing Day on Wednesday. Now everyone else can get in on the act. Horseheads runner Brian Crimmins signed to run track & cross country at the University of Buffalo.
According to DyeStat Elite, Crimmins has the second-best 1,000 meter time in the nation this year, for high school indoor season. He recorded a personal best time of 2:29.12 last week.
Crimmins says he chose Buffalo because he likes the direction the program is headed. He also appreciates the fact that he will not be the program’s “cornerstone,” with several talented runners already in the fold.
He wants to run the mile in college, but has not gotten into specifics with his coaches on which events he’ll try. If he does end up in the mile, Crimmins says his ultimate goal is to run a sub-four minute mile.
Crimmins expects to major in pharmacy at Buffalo.
