Elmira, NY – The Elmira College Women's Ice Hockey team has earned one of three at-large bids into the 2013 Division III NCAA Women's Ice Hockey Tournament and will travel to Brunswick, ME Saturday, March 9th to take on host Bowdoin College at 7:00 p.m. at Sidney J. Watson Arena.
Tickets will go on sale beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, March 5th, in the Athletic Department Office on the second floor of the Peter Buck Center. Tickets will be $5 for adults, $3 for students and children. Children under two are free.
The Bowdoin College Athletic Department does not expect the game to sell out and believes traveling fans will have no problem in securing tickets upon arrival in Brunswick. Should fans wish to purchase tickets ahead of time they can call (207) 725-3326.
Elmira earned an at-large bid to the tournament as the runners-up in the ECAC West Tournament. The Soaring Eagles (21-5-1) fell to Plattsburgh 4-2 in the championship game on Sunday.
An automatic qualifier as champions of the New England Small College Athletic Conference, the Polar Bears (21-4-2) won their first conference championship since 2004 with a 2-1 win over Middlebury on Sunday.
The winner of Saturday's first round game will advance to the national semifinals on March 15th against the winner of Wisconsin-River Falls and Gustavus Adolphus. The Division III semifinals and championship will be hosted by Wisconsin-Superior.
