ELMIRA - If you need help heating your home this winter, starting Monday, applications for HEAP are being accepted.

HEAP stands for “Home Energy Assistance Program" and is a federally funded program to help low-income families heat their homes.

The applications are available starting Monday morning at several locations throughout the Southern Tier.

In Elmira, you can visit the Samaritan Center on Main Street or The Chemung County Department of Social Services or The Department of Aging both on Pennsylvania Avenue.

HEAP applications are also being accepted in Bath at Pro Action of Steuben and Yates, Inc. located at 117 East Steuben Street.  Applications can also be filed with the Steuben County Department of Social Services.

HEAP provides grants ranging from $40-$400, depending on household incomes.
