Who said you have to be a kid to love Halloween?
All you have to do is walk into the door of my apartment and you would know instantly that I love Halloween. I have orange lights strung around my deck, decorative stickers on all the windows, and pumpkins inside and out. For me weather plays a big roll in why I love this day. Late October means colorful country sides, crisp cool air, and plentiful apple cider! Just the way the weather starts to change really triggers excitement in kids big and small.
With all of the excitement of Halloween you can image the pressure that meteorologists feel when forecasting for the special night. A lot of time and effort goes into a night of trick-or-treating. The costumes, face paint, hair styles; one might argue you spend more time on money on Halloween night than most other nights of the year. A little bit of rain or snow can really be a bummer for most kids.
Here in the weather center, Halloween night as been the topic of all forecast discussions among the meteorologists. Joe, Nick, and I have been keeping a close eye on the possible rain showers that look to move into the Twin Tiers close to the time kids would be making their trick-or-treat rounds. So keep in mind that a few rain drops may fall and winds could be a bit breezy, but that can never stop the Halloween festivities that we look forward to every year.
I want to wish everyone a Happy and Safe Halloween and to have more treating than tricking! I also want to thank everyone that has emailed or called to congratulate me on my wedding. I got married on October 16th to the most wonderful man- you might him remember from his days of working at WETM-TV- Matt Szwejbka. We went to the Bahamas for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. I am glad to be back and will continue to update my blog and answer any questions you might have. Feel free to email me at vrichards@wetmtv.com. Keep an eye to the sky and remember the sky is the limit!
