ELMIRA, N.Y. - Pat Bingham has a contract with the Elmira Jackals for the 2012-13 season. The question is, will he use it?
Bingham's option year kicked in when the Jackals clinched a playoff spot this season.
Still, he says he will entertain offers at the American Hockey League level, where he had coached before coming to Elmira this season.
"I know I'm more than capable, I have the ability to do that and I have the desire to do that," said Bingham.
The Jackals' uncertain future could also play a role in Bingham's decision. Chemung County's foreclosure on First Arena, and the Afr family's pending lawsuit against the county are both still unresolved.
While the team has already started selling tickets for next season, and the ECHL plans to have Elmira return, Team President Tamer Afr has said he will "cross that bridge when we get there."
