AVOCA, NEW YORK - There is little unknown between Addison and Jasper-Troupsburg. It doesn't matter what the sport is, but things elevate when basketball season rolls around.
Both squads seem to always meet in SCAA Tournament Championship, and in the girls' finale on Tuesday, that was just the case.
Avoca was the setting for what many expected to be a defensive battle between the Wildcats and Knights. Rarely has either team allowed their opponents to score outside of the 40's. Jasper-Troupsburg went into the game, not only looking to defend their title, but also remain perfect on the season.
There was plenty of steals and blocks for the defensive fans, but there was also highlights of offense. The Wildcats' McKenzie Prutsman seemed to save her best performance for the title game. The guard finished with a triple-double, 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 steals. Kendall Austin and Kelsey Button each contributed 13 points in the winning effort.
The second half saw the Wildcats pull away from the Knights extending their lead from 10 at the end of third, to the eventual final, of 48-31.
