PAINTED POST, N.Y. (WETM-TV) - At Guthrie's Healthworks Fitness & Wellness Center in Painted Post you’ll find a class called “AquaFit.”

"The water provides 360 degrees of resistance versus on land [training]," Aquatics Director Holli Childs said.

It also supports your weight so if you have joint issues, you can typically do more than what you could out of the water.

"We do a lot of core exercises, which is good for balance and stability,” Childs said.

“AquaFit” has done wonders for people like Vickey Simpson...

"I couldn't walk without a walker before I came,” Simpson said.

"It's built my muscles up so I can move."

 ...Building muscles, without the sweat!

"Water has a lot of cooling properties, so you don't feel that hot, sweaty feeling when people workout,” Childs said.

Sound easy?

Don't let your guard down!

There are some other classes taught in the water as well…

"I do yoga, tae chi, kick boxing, tae bow,” Instructor Lynda Trencansky said.

A cardio and resistance workout anyone can do.

"They can do almost anything in here. I have a reconstructed foot. Things are difficult for me as well. I come in here, I can do above normal,” Trencansky said.

So if you think you can stay afloat, head to http://www.guthrie.org/content/healthworks-classes.

Be sure to tune in every Monday to see what workout and health news WETM’s Chris Hush will tackle next!
