ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM-TV) - Want a workout that involves gymnastics, weight training, cardio, and a lot more all at one time in under 1 hour?Maybe you should try your hand at CrossFit!
As a part of WETM's new segment, "Move-It Monday," Reporter Chris Hush went "inside" CrossFit to see what the hype is all about with this unique workout program.
“Jim’s Gym” on Elmira’s Southside is the only gym in the Elmira area to offer CrossFit.
CrossFit is an affiliated workout program that started on the West Coast and has now spread across the country.
Jim Wheaton, owner of “Jim’s Gym” says CrossFit is a combination of functional movements at a high intensity and constantly varied.

"The times [of the workout] actually vary, anywhere from 10-15 minutes on up to 45 to an hour,” Wheaton said.
When you come in to the gym for CrossFit, you’ll find your W.O.D. (Workout Of the Day) on a white board.
A timer keeps track of how long you have left of the workout, or how long you’ve actually been working out…with the goal being the first one to finish the W.O.D.
Karen Morgan, who is training to become a fire fighter, says CrossFit is helping her prepare.
"When you're at a fire scene, you're not just running, you're not just lifting. So it's an overall workout that incorporates everything you need to do,” Morgan said.
The good news?
Almost anyone; age, sex, weight, or height, can do it!
