ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM-TV) - If you're trying to find the athlete in you, you may be surprised how close you really are.
There's one program in Elmira that will surely bring it out.
As WETM’s Chris Hush finds out, the "Semi- Private Training" program at New York Sport and Fitness may be just the right "tick" for you!
"Bottom line, it's about functional movements, it's about strength, balance,” N.Y.S.F. owner John Maio said.
"It's something you would use in everyday life."
It's all about getting back to basics with this workout.
"It's just old school, back when gyms just started…They used to have ladders, just body weight medicine balls,” Maio said.
"You look at how fit they were back then."
With groups of just 2 to 8 people, it's one- on- one training that can be difficult to find these days, if you don't have the cash to dish out.
For one hour, 3- times a week, you're put through a series of workouts that focus on body movements; Different from your conventional gym.
"I lost a good amount of weight, I toned up and I like working out now,” program participant Megan Beavers said.
"I can feel my strength, my agility, keep up with the grandkids better,” program participant Teri Mirando said.
"When you train like an athlete, you're not training muscle groups, so much as training movements,” Maio said.
Every six weeks, you'll get a personalized individual assessment, like body fat analysis and nutrition guidance.
"Everyone's an athlete, hopefully you'll find yours here,” Maio said.
