SOUTHPORT, N.Y. - In front of a capacity crowd in a gym that felt like a sauna, Notre Dame rode a red-hot third quarter to beat Waverly 50-38.
Notre Dame scored 16 straight points from the second quarter into the third frame, then held off a Waverly rally that saw the Wolverines cut the lead to just six in the final minutes.
The win evens the season series at 1-1, but Waverly can still clinch the IAC crown with a win next week over Newark Valley.
