TOWN OF DIX - The sounds of screeching tires is nothing new at Watkins Glen International Speedway. But today they didn't come from race car drivers.
30 students from across New York State were swerving in and out and leaving plenty of skid marks on the ground.
The students were taking part in the tire rack street survival driving course that was set up in the parking lot at W.G.I.
The students used their own cars on the course, to show them the limits of their own car.
Students we spoke with say the course was very helpful
“You know its teaching us to instinctively be able to, subconsciously, make the turns and stuff. To be able to drive safely”, said Marshall Secord.
“It’s definitely a good experience. My brother did this before me and he said he enjoyed it a lot, and that's why I’m doing it. It seems to me that people are having fun”, said Ryan McGee.
This was the third time this type of driving course was offered at the racetrack.
The cost was 60 dollars for the class.
