Horseheads - With the H1N1 virus making its presence felt in the Twin Tiers, cafeteria workers are taking extra steps to clean your kid's lunch room.

The Greater Southern Tier BOCES oversees food preparation for 15 school districts, from Allegany to Tioga Counties.

Here at Horseheads Middle School, hand sanitizing stations have been placed for kids to clean their hands before touching any food.

Kids are also being told not to touch any food that is not going on your plate.

Regional Food Service Director David Kabel says the lunch line is where they need to kill the spread of germs.

Kabel’s says, "We also are cleaning keypads.  We’re doing everything we can out in the line here to make sure the kids are not spreading germs.

Here’s something else schools in Cheumg County are doing to keep things germ free:

Normally, they add one capful of bleach to water for cleaning.

However now, they're using seven capfuls.
