Fire officials say an early house fire on Elmira’s south side was no accident.The fire took place here at 306 Cottage Place, right off of Fulton Street.
The back of this abandon house caught on fire around two o'clock this morning.
Fire officials are calling the fire suspicious, but they say it’s not related to the string of fires that have taken place on Cedar Street in Southport.
Assistant Fire Chief, Steven Avery says, “When our units arrived, they found the exterior wall on fire. It was extinguished quickly and is currently under investigation by the Elmira Fire Department and the Elmira Police Department."
Officials say that people in the house just moved out over the weekend.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
