SOUTHPORT -Neighbors throughout the Twin Tiers stopped for a moment to honoring and remembering the brave men and women who have served our country.
Residents at Woodbrook in Southport held a Veterans Day service Wednesday morning. Several veterans who live at Woodbrook were on hand.
Barbra Canney served as a dental technician during the North Korean war. She said although she wasn't on the front lines, Veteran’s Day means a lot to her.
“I was glad to participate even though I was just a dental technician. I was glad to be a part of this.” said Canney.
Right down the street a few dozen neighbors braved the chilly temperatures this morning in Southport to remember and honor our local veterans.
The Veteran's Day service at Fitzsimmons Cemetery began with the raising of the American flag.
Local veterans from all branches of the armed forces where on hand.
A special honor was held for three members of the local chapter of the Vietnam Veteran's of America who passed away this year.
Veteran’s Day ceremonies were also held Wednesday in Elmira and Corning as well as throughout the Northern Tier.
