Hello again Twin Tiers!

Two and a half years after I bid you all goodbye, I'm back and so excited to spend the next two weeks visiting with you... from thousands of miles away, and from my backyard in Vancouver.

As you sit back and watch spectacular athletes compete, I will be showing you another side of the Games. The one that those of us who live here are experiencing as hundreds of thousands of people invade Vancouver to watch it all happen. By Skytrain, streetcar, and shoe leather I hope to take you on a journey that you won't see anywhere else!

Over the past month or so, I've watched a mysterious festival grow from behind some temporary walls along Granville Street, right in the City Center. I can't wait to see what's behind it once the Olympics begin and the walls disappear. Between BC Place and GM Stadium huge televisions are expected to air non-stop sports for people walking around. Every community center in town will also play host to daily viewing parties. I'll be going to all that stuff, and reporting back to you about the interesting things I see. In the meantime, I've included some pictures from downtown that I took recently.

As for inside the venues, I am only going to one event: the women's bronze medal hockey game. That is still a couple of weeks away, but you can be sure I'll be taking pictures, regardless of which teams end up fighting for one medal!

The opening ceremonies are now just days away. In the downtown area, streets are closed, and the anticipation is building with each passing hour. Please click back and comment. I'd love to hear from you and be able to write about things you become curious about as you watch Olympic coverage.

Until then, with loads of Olympic spirit,
Leigh
