Easley, S. Carolina - A fire department in the town of Easley is getting bulletproof vests for its firefighters.
Easley Fire Chief Butch Womack tells WSPA-TV in South Carolina the move is in response to what happened in Webster on Christmas Eve.
He says the vests will make his department feel more at ease in doing their jobs.
The vests cost about $1,500 apiece.
Womack says the vests can not be worn on fire calls because they get too hot. But Easley firefighters will wear the vests on non-fire calls such as medical emergencies.
