Rochester, N.Y. - A house slated for demolition has been saved, thanks to a neighborhood group.
On Hamilton Street, #239 has been in bad shape for years.
But the South Wedge Planning Committee lobbied the City not to tear it down, because neighbors did not want another vacant lot.
With a combination of city and state grants worth $185,000, the group plans to rehab the house.
South Wedge resident Kevin Henry said, “It's a great neighborhood and this house is the last piece of the puzzle--so it looks like 2013 is going to be a great year for this part of the South Wedge.”
The house will be sold once it's finished.
