Rochester, N.Y. - Time Warner Cable is defending a fee increase for its high speed internet customers.

Starting this month customers who don't buy a modem will be charged a $4 monthly fee to rent one.

The company lists vendors on its website who sell the modems needed for high speed service.

A spokesperson says the fee will help better serve a growing number of internet customers.

Some customers have filed a class action lawsuit saying Time Warner did not give the required 30 day notice for a fee increase.
