(Penfield, NY)  In a digital world, the Super Bowl game day program still remains one of the most coveted items from any Super Bowl week.  In the early days, only those attending the game could get their hands on one.  Over the last twenty years though, programs have been mass produced and can be purchased through a variety of ways.  But there IS a difference.  Those attending a Super Bowl and who purchase a program at the stadium, will see a hologram cover on their program.  The covers have varied through the years but are often tailored to the locale where the game is being played.  In Super Bowl XV in New Orleans, special theme are was created showing the Vince Lombardi trophy amidst an arrangement of jazz instruments (one of my personal favorites).  Game programs from the early Super Bowls are scarce, but can be found on EBay for a handsome fee.

Lombardi Trophy Facts

The Vince Lombardi Super Bowl Trophy was first named to honor the former Green Bay Packers Coach/General Manager in 1971, when the game was still known as the AFL-NFL World Championship. It is considered to be the National Football League's most prestigious award. Traditionally, the NFL Commissioner presents the Trophy to the owner of the winning team on Super Bowl Sunday at a field ceremony in their honor.

Handcrafted by Tiffany & Co. and valued at $12,500, the Vince Lombardi Trophy depicts a football in kicking position that is made entirely of sterling silver. The words "Vince Lombardi Trophy" and the NFL official logo are engraved on the base of the award. The trophy itself stands 22 inches tall, weighs seven pounds and takes 72 man-hours to create.
