Recap: Milwaukee vs. Butler
Valparaiso, IN (Sports Network) - Khyle Marshall recorded a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds to help the fifth-seeded Butler Bulldogs advanced past the fourth-seeded Milwaukee Panthers with a 71-49 victory in the second round of the Horizon League Tournament at the Athletics-Recreation Center.
Roosevelt Jones also scored 17 points for Butler (20-13), which continued its quest to win its third conference tourney in a row. The Bulldogs will take on the top-seed and tournament hosting Valparaiso Crusaders in the semifinal round on Saturday.
James Haarsma scored a team-high nine points for the Panthers (20-14). Milwaukee also lost to Butler in the 2011 Horizon League Tournament Championship Game.
The Bulldogs took a slight 22-18 lead into halftime after they shot 37.9 percent from the field in the opening period. Milwaukee made only 30 percent of its field goals in the first half.
Butler ran away with it after the break by shooting 62.1 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes. The Panthers went 9-of-27 from the floor in the second half.
The Bulldogs held a dominant 46-25 edge in the rebounding battle as they won for the seventh time in their last eight games.Game Notes
