Recap: South Florida vs. MD-Eastern Shore
Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Toarlyn Fitzpatrick scored a game-high 16 points as the South Florida Bulls took down the Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks, 78-59, as part of the USF Invitational at the Sun Dome.
Anthony Collins tallied 13 points and seven assists for USF (1-1), while Shaun Noriega came off the bench to put up 11 points. Jawanza Poland narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds. The Bulls will play Loyola-Chicago on Saturday.
For UMES (0-4), Ronald Spencer recorded 14 points and Troy Snyder netted 12. The Hawks will battle Western Michigan next.
USF shot a modest 41.4 percent from the floor in the opening half, but it was able to take a comfortable 34-23 lead into the break thanks to a poor effort from the field by UMES (26.1 percent).
The Bulls improved their field goal percentage to 48.6 percent after halftime as they cruised to a victory.
USF held the advantage on the boards, 45 to 33, and it turned the ball over just 10 times.
