Recap: Toledo vs. Ill-Chicago
Toledo, OH (Sports Network) - Rian Pearson's big afternoon led the Toledo Rockets to a 74-55 victory over the Illinois-Chicago Flames in a non- conference tilt at Savage Arena.
Pearson contributed 24 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for Toledo (4-6) which won back-to-back games for the first time this season. Nathan Boothe added 10 points and seven rebounds while Reese Holliday knocked down 4-of-6 shots from behind the arc and scored 16 points off the bench.
Daniel Barnes led the way for UIC (9-4) with 18 points on 6-of-10 from 3- point range. Hayden Humes added 11 points while the Flames shot just 33.3 percent from the floor.
The Rockets ran off a 15-2 run early in the first half and led 39-30 at intermission. Holliday scored 11 of his 16 in the period for Toledo, outscoring the Flames' bench by himself. The Rockets led by as many as 17 but a couple late triples by Humes helped cut the deficit to nine.
Leading by nine with 13:18 remaining in the game, the Rockets went on a 14-3 run to seal the victory.
Toledo defeated UIC for just the second time in seven matchups. The Rockets outscored the Flames 18-8 on second chance points and had a 48-38 edge in rebounds.
