San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - The San Diego Chargers have released veteran safety Atari Bigby, the team announced on Friday.

In 2012 -- his only season with the Chargers -- Bigby started the first 11 games before suffering a season-ending groin injury during a Week 12 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He finished with 68 tackles, fourth most on the team.

The eight-year pro had spent his initial six NFL seasons with the Green Bay Packers and was a member of the Seattle Seahawks for one year prior to his stint in San Diego.

He has appeared in 72 games, registering 250 tackles and 10 interceptions over the course of his career.
