ALFRED - Yet another honor, rolling in for Alfred University's Jared Manzer. He's the Empire Eight football player of the year, after earning first-team all-conference on offense, defense, and as an all-purpose player.
Manzer has more than 1,000 yards receiving on offense, with five interceptions as a defensive back. He was unanimously picked as the league's offensive player of the year.
Dave Murray is the unanimous choice as Empire-8 Coach of the Year. Murray leads the Saxons into their second-ever NCAA tournament game Saturday at noon against Albright.
Other first-team selections from Alfred include QB Tom Secky, RB Vinson Hendrix, OL Dave Carletta and Zach Morgan, LB Nick Clark, and P Pete Marley. The Saxons also had four second-team picks.
SVE grad Eric Kahl is a first-team linebacker for Utica.
